Rust Cloth finished for this winter season

Winter is officially over. Mother nature helped thru the winter to keep the cloths wet as I rusted the cloth.
Soo this is the last Batch for now.
The black splotches on these pieces is where I had some teabags lying on top.

And a small boudoir cushion made with rust cloth for the ruffle and the flat flowers. On a base of my own textured fabric.

Upcycling vintage.

Again a different style to my shabby work.

These 2 were being worked on just before the February quakes and

its time they reappeared. :)

This first one was worked on a very distressed vintage piece that I rescued.

I used a sketch of some metal flowers .

Sorry no photo of them.

This second piece was made from scratch with layers of

calico, then teabags, tulle and a strip of fabric.

Stitched with perle cotton.

Slightly bigger than an A4 page.

As per usual, I havn't

decided how to hang/display these.

Not interested in that part.

Its the stitching that rules the roost. :)

I still have the Glory Box that I had as a teen and its

filling up rapidly with my work.Plus a rolled up stack AND a vintage art folder full of embroideries and needlepoints.

My creations dont need a reason to be made. I just have to do it.

Is anyone else like this??

Happy hoarding

Rust with Tins

I flattened a couple of tin cans
and got these lovely rusty stripey lines on calico.
all my rusting is done on various weights of calico.

And from the lids I got this on a seperate piece.

Dont ask what I'm going to do with them. I just love making the marks. Every single piece I do come out differently.I love it.

Happy Rusting

Unorganised Thread Piece.Long term projects.

I always have a small piece beside my chair that gets stitched with the lengths of thread that you always end up with when stitching an organised piece.
Even if its only long enough for a couple of stitches, it gets used.
nothing gets wasted.
Normally I make up a hotch-poptch fabric collage then just stitch. No planning, no end result in mind, just to see what happens.
Weeell, this one is 3 flowers from my stash and, I never noticed till I photographed it that, Theres a little doggy shape there.
Can you see that sad little face?
Will this influence my stitching? It probably will, shape wise I'm sure.

These odd pieces take ages to do so I will just have to see how it evolves.

Happy Scrappy stitching.

Rust Cloth and Lace

A vintage cloth with a fabulous lace edging and a rescued piece of fringing.
Layered to a series of rust cloths and a wall cloth is born.
The 2 types of cloth together have a fascination for me.
The fine lace against the rawness of the rust cloth.
Hard to explain really.

I am constantly rusting cloth and will show more soon.

And a small batch of mismatched buttons.

Vase in Stitch

An upcycled vintage linen napkin.
I freehand drew the image on and stitched away.
Sometimes my work is VERY clean and clear.
But overall its the attraction to stitch.
The rhythm of mark-making.

Tablecloth Repurposed

When folding this away after rescue, I noticed
how the layers created new patterns of shadowy
layers. It showed signs of wear and marks.
A well used domestic linen that now lives on as a wall-cloth.
How many cups of tea have been shared over this cloth?

Stitching Always.
